Put Your Heart In It
John Bunyan, notable Baptist preacher and English-born writer of Pilgrim's Progress, once said this:
"In worship (prayer), it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart."
Think about this: Take some time to think about the implications of that quote this weekend. When your sitting in traffic, brushing your hair in the morning, running to the store to get milk and eggs, and on and on.
Our lives are constantly filled with a lot of activities, and each activity has a lot of words that are required of us. We talk on the phone. We text. We talk, email, text... even with multiple people simultaneously. Sometimes the conversations are lengthy and important, sometimes their just short and silly.
In contrast, words that are worthy in our worship need to have heart. Without heart, without a singular belief in the deity and glory of God, the sole object of our praise, then our words will just fill the air aimlessly. Be heart-filled!
"...So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." - Romans 15:16
