Pastor Jason Erselius
Jason Erselius came to Kindred in January 2015 and is the pastor of children and family ministries. He oversees a variety of ministries, namely Kindred Kids (Nursery – 5th grade), Young Marrieds and Families (Bible studies and fellowship for couples and families), Orphan Care (families involved with foster care and adoption), and Indispensable (our special needs ministry). He is married to Kristy since June 2004 and together they have four children, Nathan, Ellie, Noah, and Abby. They love to serve our families as a family. A victorious VBS every summer is evidence enough!
Jason was blessed to be born to parents who were followers of Jesus and he was taught the truths of the Scriptures and believed them from the earliest age. It was his 6th-grade year at a junior high winter camp that he was truly convicted of his sin by the Holy Spirit and his need for Jesus’ sacrificial death so that his sins could be forgiven. At that point, God began to transform him and give him a love for His Word and His Church, which translated into serving others and sharing the Gospel at home and overseas. Then during his first semester of college, he began to sense God’s calling to pastoral ministry. From an internship in youth ministry to a Master of Divinity degree from The Master’s Seminary in 2007 to experience as a youth pastor and associate pastor in two other Californian churches to his present-day role at Kindred, Jason enthusiastically loves the Lord and the opportunity to love Christ’s church.
It’s fitting that Jason oversees our children’s ministry because when he isn’t teaching or preaching, he is just a big kid himself. You can find him building Lego masterpieces with his kids, which are freshly inspired by their family’s recent monumental trip to Lego Land! He also loves to watch and play sports, particularly basketball. When a basketball isn’t on hand, he grabs a good book to read. And best of all, he is intentional about dating his kind wife, Kristy. They enjoy grabbing a bite to eat and catching a movie together.
This inspired Scripture is a constant inspiration to Jason – “For all flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you.” 1 Peter 1:24–25 Amen!
