Pastor Doug McAllister
Doug McAllister has been the Executive Pastor at Kindred since March of 2010. He sees his primary function as one to assist the Senior Pastor with the implementation of his vision and spiritual direction so that the Senior Pastor can continue his main responsibility of “teaching and preaching of God’s Word.” In other words, Doug keeps us all organized and is a Biblical backbone behind every ministry. He is ever-serving behind the scenes and behind the pulpit in various Kindred classes. He and his joyful wife, Carol, have four grown daughters who all married Christian men. And believe it or not, this dynamic duo has twenty-one beloved grandchildren. And it’s a well-known fact too that they have just as many children in the faith as they disciple many people throughout the week.
Doug’s journey to faith involved the Spirit overcoming his stubborn skepticism and rebellious nature. Through about with bitterness, an encounter with the Scriptures on the radio, and the winsome witness of his believing wife, Carol, Doug surrendered to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at age 26 and has never turned back. He wants everyone to know the reality of Revelation 3:20 that “Jesus stands at the door and knocks. If anyone hears His voice and opens the door, He will come into him.” It’s wonderful to see how our sovereign God develops and directs our skills through the years because, after forty years in the business world, it was a natural transfer of skills for Doug to oversee operations and coordinate key areas of the ministry including administration, staffing, communications, facilities, and finance. Doug is living proof that God wastes nothing, not even a BSCE from the University of Illinois.
Many moons ago, when Doug married his spunky sweetheart, they escaped the cold Midwest and moved their four daughters over here to Pacific paradise, also known as sunny, southern California. As a family, they enjoyed worshipping the Lord in a solid, Bible-teaching church as well as worshipping their Creator out on the water, whether swimming, diving, boating, or water-skiing. Now, most of his leisure time is spent playing with his tribe of grandchildren, reading a good book, or hiking in God’s majestic creation. And you can always spot Doug from far away since he’s the tallest pastor with the loudest laugh.
This inspired Scripture is a constant inspiration to Doug – “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:3-5 Amen!
